The Power of Intention

We often think of intention as simply having a quality (such as a “good” intention), or as a way to set goals and guide our actions. However, intention goes beyond that - it’s an energetic declaration. When you set an intention, you’re focusing your awareness and physically shifting your internal frequency to align with the qualities and experiences you seek.

In quantum physics, intention is what 'collapses the wave function'—it’s what transforms pure possibility and potential into tangible and manifested reality. By setting an intention, and aligning our energy with a specific frequency, we invite that frequency to materialize and resonate throughout our lives.

How does it work?

The wave function in quantum physics represents all potential states of a system before it’s observed or measured. Imagine the quantum field as an ocean of possibilities where every possible wave or outcome exists simultaneously. When we set an intention, we create an energetic “observation” that collapses those possibilities into an experienced reality.  For example, dropping a rock (our intention) into the ocean creates a specific wave pattern in the water (our experience).  Similarly, even though many radio station signals are available simultaneously, choosing one radio station (your intention) brings that clear signal through (your experience).

Another way to visualize this is through resonance, a concept that’s tossed around a lot in the health and wellness circles, but here’s what it really means in a nutshell: when two frequencies match, resonance occurs, allowing them to amplify each other’s energy. To perceive, connect with, and interact with a specific experience, you need to match the frequency of, or resonate with, that experience.

Imagine your inner state as a tuning fork. A tuning fork will only vibrate at its natural frequency in response to another fork of the same frequency—without that matching frequency, there’s no resonance, and the energy remains separate. So, if your intention is to experience calm, setting that intention tunes you to vibrate at the frequency of calm. This alignment then allows you to perceive, attract, and engage with situations or people resonating with calm. To see how only matching frequencies cause resonance, check out this quick reel.

In essence, we activate and align ourselves through intention, creating a pathway to engage with what we’re tuned into.  It’s also important to recognize that we’re vibrating all the time with intentions we may or may not even be conscious of. (My energy clearing sessions work at the subconscious level to help ensure you’re sending the signals you intend).

Embodying our intention

Setting an intention isn’t just a mental exercise—it’s something you embody. Rather than striving to “get” something, shift to becoming the thing you seek. If you set an intention for calm, your inner vibration aligns with calm, allowing you to perceive and be in situations where calmness is present and available.

Our reality only reflects what we are already embodying. If we aren’t energetically aligned with something, we simply can’t perceive it—it’s not within our "tuning range." Think of it like going to your mirror and waiting for the reflection to smile – you have to smile first to see that smile reflected back.

How do we do this practically?

Setting an intention like planting a seed—let’s say a seed for calm. For that seed to grow, you need to nurture an environment within yourself that “feeds” that vibration of calm. One way to nurture that environment is to create small habits that embody it. You might begin by noticing when you feel tense, pausing to get present, dropping your shoulders, and taking a breath.  Or, simply increase how often you notice and appreciate moments of stillness in your day. Though small and simple, these actions reinforce the calm vibration and continue to energize your intention.

To Practice:

  1. Identify an Intention: Choose something you’d like to work with this month. Maybe it’s calm, presence, or resilience – whatever you want to cultivate at the moment.

  2. Anchor It Through Small Actions: This brings your energy into focus so you can code the frequency more easily. For the intention of clarity, as an example, create a daily ritual of checking in with yourself and clearing distractions to ground your thoughts.

  3. Add a Visual: Spend a few minutes visualizing yourself embodying your intention. This trains your mind and body to align with that desired state.

  4. Combine with Breathwork: Breathing slowly and steadily through the nose (in for 5 seconds in and 5 seconds out) while holding your intention in mind to tune your nervous system to that state.

  5. Act As If: Remember back to our previous lesson and use present-moment affirmations that reflect you are already aligned with your intention, like “I feel calm and centered.” (Pro Tip! Notice I didn’t say “I AM calm”.  Saying “I FEEL calm”, keeps the focus on your experience, not your identity)
